POLICE OFFICER RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM (PORIP)
Thank you for your interest in the Police Officer Recruitment Incentive Program (PORIP). Unfortunately, as a result of City Council action, the program was discontinued effective July 1, 2009.
We apologize for any inconvenience, but hope that you will continue to recruit and mentor individuals toward becoming successful police officers for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Click here to view the Council motion.
HOW DOES PORIP WORK?
First, recruit a candidate who you feel possess the desire to protect and to serve as a Police Officer or Reserve Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Next, submit the PORIP card, completed by both you and the candidate, no later than 30 days after the candidate takes their Physical Abilities Test for the first time.
Then, mentor your candidate successfully through the selection process and the police academy.
Remember, it is the recruiter's responsibility to submit the PORIP card to the Personnel Department: 700 E. Temple Street Los Angeles CA 90012 Room 150. The PORIP card must be completed and signed by both the candidate and the recruiter.
WHY WAS PORIP CANCELLED?
According to Council Motion 40, due to potential cost savings.
WHEN WILL PORIP BE REINSTATED?
There has been no discussion to reinstate PORIP. Please continue to visit our website for the most current information.

If a PORIP card was submitted prior to July 1, 2009, and you have met all of the previously established PORIP eligibility requirements you are eligible to participate in PORIP.
IF I DID NOT SUBMIT A PORIP CARD YET, BUT MY CANDIDATE IS ALREADY IN THE PROCESS FOR LAPD, AM I STILL ELIGIBLE FOR PORIP?
